We practice primary care obstetrics with the full support of a team dedicated to providing maternity care:
-
2 Social Workers,
-
1 Physician Assistant,
-
3 Clinic Nurses (involved in day to day clinic functions, first prenatal assessments, clinic administration and lactation consultations)
-
1 Registered Dietitian
-
2 Administrative Support Staff
We have a very cohesive and collaborative team. Most of our physicians have worked together for many years. Our physicians made a successful proposal to the MOH-LTC in 2008 to launch a team for maternity care and have not looked back. We each work 1-2 days per week at PIPC and varying call schedules to fill a 24/7 roster. Some of our physicians also do family medicine in other Peterborough FHOs. We are preceptors for a core rotation in the Queen’s University Peterborough-Kawartha Family Medicine Residency Program.
Occasionally we have locum positions available. We will also consider a PGY3 / fellowship position of at least 6-8 weeks for those family physicians looking to gain further OB experience.
You should hold current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program and ALARM or an equivalent emergency care in obstetrics course.
You must be willing to participate in the PRHC MOREob program when joining PIPC.
